Hello, welcome to
the SCAD Homepage. We are a nonprofit social club for Deaf,
Hard of Hearing, and Hearing people related to the Deaf in
Simcoe County, Ontario.
Our club mission
statement is to promote the fellowship of the Deaf in Simcoe
County and outlying areas; to increase public awareness of
the Deaf living in aformentioned areas; to maintain a strong
relationship with various Deaf organizations, and; to do all
in its power to strengthen and promote any and all
improvements relating to the Deaf.
We have our
meetings 3 times a year. The first meeting is in January,
where the new Board is introduced and the plan for the whole
year is revealed. Another meeting in the Late Spring before
the Summer Break. Then the Annual General Meeting (AGM) will
be in November, where the year is summed up and presented, it
may be followed by the General Election (every two years
starting in 2006). Our meetings are held at the Barrie Police
Station (see map) at 7pm, check the events page for the next
upcoming meeting.
The Executive
Board will continue to meet every month to keep the club
running smoothly, and where the various events committees
present their reports. Members are welcome to observe these
meetings, to know when the next scheduled meeting is, please email us.
We host various
social events, such as holiday theme parties, a summer boat
cruise and annual Christmas Party. If you are interested in a
social event, check out our Events page, or contact our
Social Director, Tiffany Calaguiro.
We strive to keep
our Deaf community closeknit and actively participating in
our club and are flexible in changing to meet their needs
